1915: Founding of the company in the UK
The success story begins in 1915 in the United Kingdom, in the parents' garage. Thomas Benjamin Carrington and Thomas Carrington founded Tom Carrington & Co. Ltd. to manufacture threading tools. The company develops rapidly and as early as 1920 moves into a modern factory building in West Bromwich.
In 1948, another move takes place to the Walsall site, which is still in use today.
1980: Foundation of VÖLKEL KG
Another major milestone is found in 1980, again in a garage. Doris and Peter Völkel, together with two partners, found Völkel KG for the production of holding tools for threading tools. As early as 1981 and again in 1988, the company moves into larger facilities and production is significantly expanded and modernized.
1990: A new era begins
A new era begins in 1990, when the Carrington and Völkel families, together with another partner, decide to found VÖLKEL GmbH. The experience of 75 years of tap manufacturing merges with the energy of the young founders. A strategically and operationally optimally positioned unit is created: VÖLKEL Threading Solutions.
In the following years, production and sales become increasingly international. While John Carrington manages sales in the UK, his older brother Tom takes over the technical management of global manufacturing. Peter and Daniel Völkel are responsible for the German and international business and the overall management of the joint company. Meanwhile, with Sarah Joa-Völkel and Luke Carrington, the next generation has already taken on responsibility in the company.
In 1995, the company moves into a modern, new logistics center in Morsbachtal in Remscheid. This is continuously expanded and modernized in the following years.
2017: Construction and moving into the company headquarters in Morsbachtal
In July 2017, after two years of construction, the new facility, also in Morsbachtal, was moved into. The new warehouse and logistics areas with 4,500 m² as well as office space with 1,300 m² allow to intensify the customer service even further and to expand in terms of sales. Since then, the building has been the location of the head office and the logistics center for the worldwide shipment of VÖLKEL threading tools and V-COIL thread insert systems. From here, the quality of the products and - no less important - the quality of the supply and service are planned, managed and ensured.
