VÖLKEL Environmental Management
For a
shared
future
Environmental responsibility – not as an obligation, but as a matter of principle.
What we do for the environment
Environmental responsibility begins on our own doorstep
As a company, we are committed to protecting the environment and actively accepting environmental responsibility. In cooperation with the State of North Rhine-Westphalia, we restored the Morsbach to help re-establish its ecological balance and reduce the potential risk of flooding.
We also protect nature on our company grounds: large natural green spaces, a productive garden with fruit trees and berry bushes, and flowering plants that provide food and habitat for bees and other insects.
Our company building was constructed to the latest technical standards for energy efficiency. For shipping, we use waste cardboard as recyclable packing material and work with carefully selected, climate-neutral transport providers.
At VÖLKEL, we strive to keep our environmental footprint as small as possible so that our planet remains liveable for future generations. Sustainable action is one of our highest priorities.
Energy efficiency
Our building was constructed to modern technical standards to save energy and reduce CO₂ emissions over the long term.
Natural green spaces
Fruit trees, berry bushes and flowering plants create valuable habitat for insects and birds while making our grounds a better place for people.
Sustainable packaging
Waste cardboard as recyclable packing material and consistently climate-neutral transport chains – our commitment to sustainability extends beyond our own operations.

Water level monitoring station
on the Morsbach
Taking responsibility for the valley – with technology that provides early warning and helps protect lives.
The Morsbach does not merely flow past our company grounds – it also crosses parts of our site. Even before the flood disaster of 14 July 2021, we had taken precautionary action: the stream was restored and considerably widened to give the water more space.
However, the events of 2021 showed how quickly a seemingly small stream can become an immediate danger. Bridges were damaged, roads were washed out and basements flooded. The livelihoods of many people and businesses in the Morsbach valley were at risk.
That is why we are participating in the new water level monitoring station together with LANUV NRW, the State Office for Nature, Environment and Climate. The station continuously records the water level and transmits the data digitally, helping public authorities, emergency services and local residents respond early on the basis of reliable information.
“When we work and live here, we accept responsibility for this place. Reliable water level monitoring benefits not only us, but everyone along the Morsbach.”
Live data
Current water level of the Morsbach
The monitoring station in Remscheid continuously transmits its data to LANUV NRW. The chart shows the actual water level trend over the past seven days and refreshes automatically on this page every 15 minutes.
Safety at our site.
Responsibility for the region.
Everyone who works here is part of this valley and contributes to protecting it. Sustainable action is one of our highest priorities because it is essential to our company’s long-term future. We will continue to keep you informed about the next steps.
