Die Stock Zinc die cast 1 inch

You use this threading tool for workshop thread production and repair work. Selection is based on the product name specification.

Match the tool to your thread requirement and use suitable lubrication and alignment for consistent results.

Application

  • Use for thread production and thread restoration in workshop and maintenance work.
  • Select the tool by the thread designation and standard stated in the product name.
  • Use suitable lubrication and keep the tool aligned to avoid thread damage.
  • Process: manual driving or assisted driving depending on your holder and machine setup.
  • Use: thread cutting, re tapping, and thread cleaning depending on condition.

Note Verify thread standard and fit requirement before machining and select lubrication suitable for the material.

Benefits

  • Compact solution for external thread cutting on prepared stock material.
  • Controlled thread fit when you start square and use consistent lubrication.
  • Quick tool change when used in a die holder or die stock.
  • Suitable for thread repair when enough material remains on the workpiece.
Drawbacks
  • Performance is limited in very hard or abrasive materials unless a suitable die execution is selected.
  • Cycle time is limited for high volume production compared with dedicated machine processes.

Step by step

  1. Inspect the workpiece and ensure there is a clean lead in chamfer at the thread start.
  2. Select a round die holder and clamp the die securely before you approach the workpiece.
  3. Apply cutting fluid to the workpiece area and to the die entry side.
  4. Align the die square to the workpiece axis and start cutting with steady forward pressure.
  5. Turn the die forward to advance the thread while maintaining alignment.
  6. Reverse briefly at intervals to clear chips from the cutting edges.
  7. Continue until the required thread length is reached and then stop the forward feed.
  8. Back the die off the workpiece and remove it from the holder.
  9. Clean the die and verify the thread fit with a matching part or a suitable gauge.

Frequently asked questions (FAQ)

How do you select the correct die for your thread?
Match the thread designation in the product name to your required external thread and ensure the mating nut or component uses the same system and pitch.
Which holder should you use for a round die?
Use a round die holder or die stock that clamps the die securely and supports square alignment to the workpiece axis.
Which workpiece preparation is important before cutting an external thread?
Prepare a clean lead in chamfer and ensure the workpiece surface is free of scale and burrs so the die can start square and cut cleanly.
How do you manage chips during external thread cutting?
Use suitable cutting fluid and clear chips regularly during the operation so chips do not score the new thread surface.
