In January 2024, we at VÖLKEL Threading Solutions embarked on the ultimate off-road adventure for the first time: the Rallye Dakar Classic!
Born in 2021, it is the reincarnation of the original rally spirit. We accepted the challenge and took on the tough tests of the desert with historic vehicles.
Think about it: a legendary Mercedes-Benz 280 GE, proudly 40 years old and the winning car of the 1983 Dakar Rally, driven by none other than Jacky Ickx himself! We are bringing history back to the dusty tracks of the Dakar Rally. Sounds good, doesn't it? But that wasn't all! Our team also included two Mercedes-Benz NG 2636 6x6s, which were used as “Fast Assistance” service trucks and were responsible for logistics and camp.

- 3 weeks time from 01.01.-24.01.2025
- 2 days in November for loading the team vehicles
- Completed training as a vehicle mechatronics technician / agricultural machinery mechanic / truck mechatronics technician or similar training
- Affinity for historic vehicles (Mercedes affinity an advantage)
- Prior knowledge of off-road vehicles
- German as native language / good English skills (French an advantage)
- Good physical fitness
- No health restrictions
- Absolute team player
- High resilience
- High improvisation skills
- Car driver's license (truck an advantage)
