V-COIL thread inserts for BSW, Whitworth thread
Whitworth is the oldest standardised thread of all and still turns up on British machines, classic vehicles and older installations. The flank angle is 55° instead of the 60° of the metric thread, and the crests are rounded. A thread insert restores a stripped thread and can give it a load capacity above that of the original. The stainless steel wire coil is screwed into the hole after it has been drilled out and re-tapped with the STI tool.
