Thread forming taps for tolerance class 6H, steam tempered
Steam tempering produces a thin oxide layer that holds lubricant better and resists welding to the workpiece — above all in stainless and tough steels. A thread former does not cut — it presses the thread into the wall of the core hole without chips. Nothing is left in a blind hole that could jam later, and the grain structure is compacted.
VÖLKEL offers 18 versions to DIN 371 and DIN 376, in HSSE, from M 3 x 0.5 to M 16 x 2.0. The lead is in form C, part of the range is steam tempered (VAP).
