HexDrive: machine taps with a hex shank
A machine tap normally has a square drive and needs a chuck. On the HexDrive there is a hexagonal shank at the end instead, so it fits every bit holder, every quick-change chuck and every cordless driver. VÖLKEL makes 19 versions to DIN 371 and DIN 376 in HSSE, in form B and form C with a 15° right-hand spiral flute, from M 3 x 0.5 to M 12 x 1.75, plus matching twist drills.

The advantage is in the change
Drill, cut the thread, drill again: if you work with a quick-change system, you save the chuck time at every tool change. On site, where the cordless driver is already in your hand, that is the difference between two minutes and twenty seconds. The story behind the system is in the article HexDrive machine taps.
Form B or form C
Form B with a spiral point pushes the chips forward and belongs in through holes. Form C with a 15° right-hand spiral flute lifts them backwards and is made for blind holes. Both forms are available as HexDrive, in HSSE for alloyed and stainless steels.
Matching drills
The HexDrive twist drill HSSE type N completes the range: same shank, same holder, no chuck change between tap drill and thread. Tap drill sizes are in the article calculate tap drill size.
The complete HexDrive sets for M 3 to M 12 sit in this same category, further combinations under machine tap sets, other bit tools among the bits, taps with a square drive among the machine taps.
