Round dies and hexagon die nuts for 8-UN, Unified constant-pitch thread
In the 8-UN series the pitch stays the same across all diameters: eight threads per inch. This is usual at large diameters, where the proportional pitch of a coarse thread would become unwieldy. Dies cut external threads on bolts, rods and pipes. The round die sits in a die holder; the hexagon die nut is turned with an open-ended spanner and therefore also works during assembly.
