Assortments for metric threads
An assortment takes away the decision about which individual sizes you need: hand taps and round dies for a whole size range, arranged in a case. VÖLKEL carries 19 combinations for metric coarse threads M and fine threads Mf, from 30 to 64 pieces.
Coarse or fine thread
The M sets cover the coarse thread, for example 48 pieces from M 3 to M 12 or 62 pieces from M 5 to M 30. The Mf sets cover the fine thread, for example 31 pieces from M 3 x 0.35 to M 12 x 1.5 or 47 pieces from M 6 x 0.75 to M 24 x 1.5. With fine threads the pitch is always part of the designation, because each diameter has several.
Which range fits
M 3 to M 12 covers practically all precision engineering and instrument making. M 5 to M 20 is the usual range in maintenance and mechanical engineering. If you regularly work larger, go for M 5 to M 30. The 64-piece set from M 1 pays off where very small threads actually occur.
What is inside
Each thread comes with hand taps and the matching round die for the external thread. Depending on the set, tool holders, square dies or tap drills are added; the 42-piece set M 3 to M 12 includes the drills. Further sets with drills are under threading tools in drillbox.
