V-COIL Thread Repair Kit, BSW 1" × 8 – 1.5D

The V-COIL Thread Repair Kit BSW 1" × 8 – 1.5D is designed for fast, precise and long-lasting restoration of damaged or worn internal Whitworth threads. The kit includes STI tap, inserting tool and stainless-steel free-running inserts — ideal for maintenance, service and workshop use.

Application

  • Thread repair of damaged or worn-out BSW 1" × 8 internal threads
  • Thread armour plating for materials with low shear strength (e.g. aluminium, castings, soft steels)
  • Recovery of rejected or scrapped components
  • Creation of new, strong and long-lasting internal threads
  • Ideal for maintenance, installation and small series production
  • Wire thread inserts according to DIN 8140, tolerance ISO 2 (6H), Type S – free running, stainless steel

Advantages

  • Flexible application through inserts and system tools
  • High availability for standard and special dimensions
  • Suitable for hand tapping
  • Higher thread load capacity after repair due to improved thread geometry
  • Temperature and corrosion resistant stainless-steel inserts
  • Cost-effective alternative to replacing components
  • Functional and durable storage case

Step-by-Step Instructions

  1. Preparation: Clean the damaged thread and remove chips, paint or coating residues.
  2. Check core hole: Ensure the correct STI core diameter. Drill if needed (drill not included).
  3. Cut STI thread: Use the STI-Short Machine Tap BSW 1" × 8 and apply cutting oil. Keep the tool aligned.
  4. Prepare insert: Mount the insert on the Inserting tool No. 23 and adjust the stop ring.
  5. Install insert: Screw the insert into the STI thread until flush or slightly below surface level.
  6. Break tang: Remove the driving tang cleanly using a suitable tool.
