BLUE RING Machine taps for blind holes (set of 14 pcs.) incl. drills DIN 371/376 M 3 – M 12
The BLUE RING machine tap set for blind holes, DIN 371/376, HSS-E, M3–M12 is designed for demanding applications in wear resistant steels up to 1200 N/mm². Thanks to the Form C 39° RSP spiral flute geometry, the taps are optimised for reliable chip evacuation in blind holes, especially in high alloy steels, short-chipping materials, short-chipping stainless steels and alloy tool steels. The set includes the matching twist drills for each thread size.
Application areas & benefits
Applications:
- Wear resistant steels up to 1200 N/mm²
- High alloy steels
- Short-chipping materials
- Short-chipping stainless steels
- Alloy tool steels
- Optimised for blind holes (spiral flute Form C 39° RSP)
Benefits:
- HSS-E for high heat resistance and long tool life
- 39° spiral flute for secure chip evacuation out of blind holes
- BLUE RING identification for quick recognition of the application range
- Complete set M3–M12 including the correct twist drills
- Ideal for production, maintenance and toolmaking
Step-by-step tapping guide
- Drill the core hole: Use the appropriate twist drill from the set (2.5 / 3.3 / 4.2 / 5.0 / 6.8 / 8.5 / 10.2 mm).
- Chamfer the entry: A light chamfer helps to centre the tap and improves the thread start.
- Clamp the tool: Securely clamp the tap in a suitable collet, chuck or quick-change system.
- Set cutting parameters: Choose suitable cutting speed and feed for the material and coolant used.
- Tap the thread: Tap with continuous feed, ensuring correct alignment and sufficient lubrication.
- Retract the tap: Carefully reverse out of the blind hole without jerky movements.
- Check the thread: Inspect with a matching screw or thread gauge.

FAQ – Frequently asked questions
Are these taps suitable for stainless steel?
Yes, they are designed for short-chipping stainless steels and other difficult materials.
Why a 39° spiral flute?
The 39° helix is optimised for chip evacuation from blind holes in tough, short-chipping materials.
Can I also use them in through holes?
Possible, but for through holes a straight flute or Form B tap is often more efficient.
Are the correct drill sizes included?
Yes, all required core hole twist drills from 2.5 mm to 10.2 mm are included.
Is coolant necessary?
Yes, we strongly recommend suitable cutting oil or coolant, especially in high alloy and wear resistant steels.
