The VÖLKEL Tap Set for Grease Nipples is designed for servicing, cleaning and reworking common grease nipple threads on vehicles, agricultural machinery, construction equipment and industrial systems. The compact set contains six HSS-G hand tap finishers for metric ISO and G (BSP) pipe threads and covers the frequently used sizes M 6 x 1.0, M 8 x 1.0, M 10 x 1.0, M 10 x 1.25, G 1/8 x 28 and G 1/4 x 19.
Grease nipples must sit securely and cleanly in the component so lubricant can reliably reach bearings, joints and other moving parts. Dirt, corrosion or minor thread damage can prevent a grease fitting from being installed correctly. The included finishers allow existing internal threads to be cleaned and re-tapped in a controlled way. All tools are organised in a plastic case with a foam insert.

Drawback
- If an internal thread is stripped or severely damaged and no longer has enough sound base material, re-tapping is not sufficient. Use a suitable VÖLKEL thread repair solution instead.
- Identify the thread system and size of the existing grease nipple.
- Remove the grease nipple and clean grease, dirt, corrosion and loose residue from the threaded port.
- Select the exact matching finisher from the case.
- Secure the tap in a suitable tap wrench or tool holder.
- Align the tap with the existing thread axis and apply a cutting fluid suitable for the workpiece material.
- Turn the finisher carefully into the existing thread while avoiding side load and excessive torque.
- Withdraw the tool completely and remove chips and residues from the thread and surrounding area.
- Inspect the thread and install the correct grease nipple without overloading the thread.
- Clean the tap after use and return it to its designated position in the case.
