Step-by-Step Instructions
- Inspect the thread: Clean the damaged thread thoroughly and remove chips, dirt and coatings.
- Check core hole: Confirm that the core diameter fits the STI thread. If required, drill to the recommended STI core diameter (drill not included).
- Cut the STI thread: Use the STI short machine tap BSF 9/16 × 16 with cutting oil and keep the tap aligned square to the surface.
- Prepare the insert: Mount the wire insert onto the inserting tool with locking ring, No. 16 and set the installation depth.
- Install the insert: Screw the insert into the STI thread until it sits flush or slightly below the surface.
- Break the tang: Remove the driving tang with a suitable tool after installation.
- Final check: Check the repaired thread using a suitable BSF 9/16 × 16 bolt.
