Application Area
This threading-bit set is specifically designed for use in cordless screwdriver drills and hand drills that have right-hand and left-hand rotation. It is perfect for the fast cutting of internal threads in unalloyed and low-alloy steels, non-ferrous metals, and plastics. The bits are also suitable for manual use.
Instructions
-
Step 1: Drill the core hole
Drill a core hole with the appropriate diameter into the material. The best way to find the correct size is to consult a core hole diameter chart. -
Step 2: Insert the tool
Select the appropriate threading-bit and insert it into the chuck of your cordless screwdriver drill. Set the device to right-hand rotation. -
Step 3: Cut the thread
Ensure that the tool and the hole are perfectly aligned. Use a suitable cutting oil. Cut the thread in a single, continuous motion without applying pressure. Turn the tool to left-hand rotation for the reverse motion.
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Q: What is a threading bit used for?
A: A threading bit is used to cut an internal thread into a pre-drilled core hole. The bit design is specifically optimized for use with power tools like cordless screwdriver drills.
Q: What is the advantage of using it with a cordless screwdriver drill?
A: The main advantage is a huge time saving, especially for repetitive work. The thread is cut in a single, fast motion without the need for a separate tool like a tap wrench.
Q: Why is it important to use a suitable cutting oil?
A: Cutting oil reduces friction and heat generation during the cutting process. This protects the tool from premature wear and results in a clean, precise thread.
Q: What does HSS-G mean?
A: HSS stands for High-Speed Steel. The "-G" suffix indicates that the tap has been ground. Ground tools have higher precision and are suitable for demanding applications.
Q: What is the difference between a HexTap S and a normal tap?
A: A normal tap is used manually with a tap wrench and often requires several steps (taper, plug, and bottoming tap). A HexTap S is a single-pass threading bit with a hexagon drive that cuts the thread in one operation and is optimized for machine use.
