Bit assortments

Bit assortments for drilling, countersinking and tapping

When the cordless driver is already in your hand, the tool change is what really eats time. Bit assortments solve that, because tap drill, countersink and tap all use the same hex drive. VÖLKEL carries 18 combinations with HexTap tap bits in HSS-G, with twist drill bits, with countersinks and as combinations.

What is available

  • Tap bit sets: short machine taps as bits, M 3 to M 10 or M 3 to M 12, also together with twist drill bits.
  • Twist drill bit sets: HSS-G from 1.0 to 10.0 mm or 3.0 to 10.0 mm, plus wood drill sets.
  • Combination sets and boxes: drills and taps in the same case, metric 3 to 10, optionally TiN coated, and also for UNC and UNF from No. 8 to 3/8 inch.
  • Countersink bit sets: 6.3 to 20.5 mm.

Why the countersink belongs in the set

A briefly countersunk tap drill hole removes the burr, gives the tap a centring and stops the first thread from breaking out while starting or being raised later when the screw goes in. With the countersink in the same set, that step does not get skipped.

Where bits reach their limit

The short design and the hex drive are made for assembly and repair, not for series production in a machining centre. As soon as repeatability and tool life matter, a tool with a square drive in a chuck is the right choice, found among the machine taps.

Individual bits are under bits, machine taps with a hex shank under HexDrive, sets with round dies under threading tools in drillbox. Tap drill sizes in the article calculate tap drill size.
