- Prepare: Drill the correct tapping size, deburr and clean the bore.
- Secure: Clamp the workpiece firmly to avoid tilt or misalignment.
- Lubricate: Apply cutting oil/paste to bore and tap to reduce friction.
- Align & start: Keep the tap perpendicular and turn it evenly clockwise by hand.
- Cut to depth: Continue with steady pressure until the target depth is reached.
- Finish: Back the tap out, clean the bore and check with a matching screw or gauge.
