Round dies and hexagon die nuts for metric fine thread
A fine thread has a smaller pitch than the coarse thread at the same nominal diameter. It holds preload better, adjusts more finely and stays put where vibration would loosen a coarse thread; in return the thread root is shallower and less forgiving. Dies cut external threads on bolts, rods and pipes. The round die sits in a die holder; the hexagon die nut is turned with an open-ended spanner and therefore also works during assembly.
