The tangless V-COIL notch thread inserts, like the familiar V-COIL inserts, are designed for reliable thread reinforcement and thread repair. However, the risk of losing the tang when breaking off is eliminated.
Normal thread inserts type "S" and "SL" have a small tang at their lower end, which the installation tool engages and thus enables installation.
The tang is broken off and removed after installation. V-COIL notch inserts, on the other hand, can be installed without a tang using the special
V-COIL notch installation tool, as they have an installation notch at both ends of the insert. This eliminates the risk of the metal tang falling into a safety-critical application such as motors or electronic equipment.
V-COIL inserts are made from high quality chrome nickel stainless steel and provide strong internal threads that resist the effects of temperature and corrosion.
The unique design ensures superior threads whose overall performance characteristics cannot be replicated by any other single fastening method. Wire thread inserts are significantly lighter and less expensive than any other comparable thread insert form. Because of their compact design, they can usually be incorporated into existing structures, even if no other preparations have been made for them.
Free Running Inserts - Type "SN"
Made of austenitic stainless precision profile steel wire, V-COIL notch thread inserts have a spring-like shape. When installed by hand or machine using the new V-COIL notch installation tool, they provide strong and durable internal threads that resist the effects of temperature and corrosion. Once installed, the position is maintained by the radial pressure effect between the threads and flanks of the tapped hole. This pressure is created because the free diameter is larger than the installation diameter by a pre-calculated amount.
