The “problem” with conventional hand taps
A standard hand tap set consists of a rougher, an intermediate and a finisher. To use these tools, you need a tap wrench that holds the square of the tap. However, there are hardly any other applications for a tap wrench, and its design makes it difficult to tap threads in hard-to-reach places. The tap wrench quickly reaches its limits, especially in narrow working areas.

HexTap S (up to M10)
- Has a 1/4 inch bit drive.
- Compatible with bit sockets, standard bit holders and cordless screwdrivers.
- Easier and more flexible to use than conventional hand taps.
- VÖLKEL threading bits are designed for tapping with cordless drill drivers and hand drills with clockwise and counter-clockwise rotation. They are also suitable for tapping by hand and on stationary drills.
- The cordless drill driver should have an output of at least 7.5 volts.
- Make sure that the tool axis and hole axis are exactly aligned and use a suitable cutting oil!
HexTap DS (from M11)
- The double-sided tap combines rougher and finisher in a single tool and therefore offers an efficient solution for thread cutting.
- Thanks to the integrated pilot, a flush approach is guaranteed, which is particularly advantageous when used in hard-to-reach areas.
- Optimized for manual use, the tap offers flexible drive options: It has an external hexagon between the cutting parts as well as a continuous internal hexagon and can therefore be used with open-end wrenches, hexagon socket wrenches (Allen keys), sockets and other tools.
- This versatile tool is suitable for creating new threads as well as for recutting and repairing damaged threads.
- The tap is designed for general use in easily machinable materials up to a strength of 900 N/mm², including unalloyed and low-alloy steels.
- It is suitable for both through holes and blind holes and can therefore be used in various work situations.
