3rd VÖLKEL Hockey Day: Giving It Our All at the PSD Bank Dome

Last Saturday, everything at VÖLKEL Threading Solutions once again revolved around ice hockey. The 3rd VÖLKEL Hockey Day at the PSD Bank Dome—home of DEG—brought together employees, customers, partners, friends, and families. It was a sporty morning full of speed, commitment, and plenty of fun.

For many, the special atmosphere in the PSD Bank Dome was already a true highlight. Stepping onto the ice where the pros usually play simply feels special.

Training with DEG legends Rick Amann and Andreas Niederberger

A real highlight of the day was the training session with DEG legends Rick Amann and Andreas Niederberger—two well-known names who brought not only experience, but also exactly the right mix of professionalism and a relaxed approach.

After a joint warm-up, we kicked off a compact hockey school with targeted drills. The sessions were designed so that everyone could take something away: those on skates for the first time gained confidence, while more experienced players were able to further develop their speed and technique.

You could quickly tell how the group became more and more composed. Movements got smoother, teamwork improved, and the competitive spirit grew a bit stronger.

Scrimmage: Fast-paced, competitive, and fun above all

Then came the part everyone had been looking forward to: the scrimmage. At the latest by then, there was real action on the ice.

Quick line changes, good passes, great goals—and the occasional moment that we were still laughing about later. There was cheering, battling, and hard work for every puck, without the fun ever taking a back seat.

What stood out in particular was the team spirit: good plays were celebrated, small mistakes were brushed off with ease, and it was exactly this mix of effort and lightness that defined the morning.

Great conversations off the ice as well

Between sessions, there was always time to catch your breath—and that’s when many great conversations happened. People got to know each other better, exchanged ideas, and quickly started chatting without any barriers. The morning had plenty of pace, but still felt relaxed, because fun was clearly the priority.

Wrapping up at L’Osteria: pizza, chats, and lots of laughter

After the ice time, it was on to the more relaxed part. At L’Osteria across the street, we rounded off the Hockey Day together.

Over Italian food, we went over the best scenes from the scrimmage once more: Who scored the nicest goal? Who was surprisingly fast? And who still has a bit of potential when it comes to stopping. Lots of laughter—and exactly the right ending after an active morning.
