Choosing the right tap wrench
How to find the right tap wrench?
Manual tapping with hand taps requires a suitable tap wrench. But how do you choose the right one? In this article, you will find out what is important.
Square size as a decisive factor
Each hand tap has a square, the size of which is specified in our main catalog. For each tap wrench, you will also find information on which square sizes it can handle. The right tap is therefore selected by comparing this information.
The perfect fit
Adjustable tap wrenches cover a wide square range. It is possible to clamp a small tap in a large tap wrench, but this is not ideal. Small taps are difficult to guide precisely with large tap wrenches. It is best if the square size of the tap is approximately in the middle of the clamping range of the tap wrench. This ensures a good size ratio between tool and tap.
Choice of material: Zinc die-cast or steel?
Our adjustable tap wrenches are available in two materials:
- Zinc die-cast: For general use, ideal for standard applications.
- Steel: Extra robust and suitable for use in extreme conditions where high load-bearing capacity is required.
With the right choice of tap wrench, you can make manual tapping easier and increase the precision of your work.
